Throughout one month I have been teaching Helen, a seven-year-old blind and deaf girl. I can understand how hard her life has been going through without any vision. She needs to communicate with others, but she doesn’t know how to do it. I deeply think about how to connect the physical objects and the language. Therefore, I challenge that placed her one hand under the water and write a spell “w-a-t-e-r,” on the other hand(AFB Press, 2000). Ann recognized my strategy of the connection between the letter and the real thing. She was able to develop 30 new words by the end of that first day. At once, Keller could express herself way beyond the series of basic signs that had been her means of communication. I observed her interest and used that interest as the entry point for a lesson. I recognized many teachable moments that Helen’s intelligence and curiosity. With my help, Helen master Braille and the manual alphabet letters.
